Moscow clearly seemed more pleased with the outcome as foreign minister Sergey Lavrov said the declaration was a milestone and a step towards fairness in global governance. A more restrained French President Emmanuel Macron, while stating that Russia had been isolated on the Ukraine war issue, also said the G20 forum is not meant for political discussions and that it should not get stuck with such issues.
