SC invokes 'silence is approval' clause to name 3 judge picks

The Supreme Court collegium, led by Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud, has recommended the appointment of 13 judicial officers and five advocates as judges of various high courts in India. Three of the appointments were made using a rarely used clause in the Memorandum of Procedure which assumes silence as approval if comments from constitutional authorities are not received within six weeks.
