Centre extends tenure of Delhi CS by 6 months after SC's nod

In a blow to the Delhi government, the Supreme Court on Wednesday allowed the Centre to go ahead with its decision to grant a six-month extension to Delhi chief secretary Naresh Kumar, turning down AAP dispensation's plea against prolonging the tenure of the key bureaucrat and, also, for a say in the choice of his replacement. A bench of Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud and Justices J B Pardiwala and Manoj Misra said the chief secretary is tasked with significant functional responsibilities and overall administrative control and supervision over subjects, including land, law & order and police.
