Lights better, more deaths at cop-managed junctions

According to government data, more people died in road crashes at intersections managed by police personnel in India than at stretches with traffic signals. Fatalities at police-managed intersections increased by 17% compared to the previous year, with 2,421 deaths recorded. The number of accidents at these intersections also increased by 21% in 2022. The report also highlights the dangers of uncontrolled crossings, where fatalities remained high at 24,857.
