WHO sets up panel to combat loneliness

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has appointed US Surgeon General Vivek Murthy and African Union youth envoy Chido Mpemba as co-chairs of an international commission to address the issue of loneliness, which is considered a global health threat. Murthy has previously stated that loneliness can have a mortality impact comparable to smoking up to 15 cigarettes a day.
