12-year-old Licypriya Kangujam from Manipur made a strong statement at COP28, demanding an end to fossil fuels. She received applause from the audience and praise from the COP28 director-general. Licypriya has been advocating for climate action in India since 2018 and has called for new laws to reduce pollution and promote climate-change literacy. She has also participated in UN conferences and protests, including donating money to help child victims of floods in Kerala. Licypriya is known for her activism alongside Greta Thunberg and other young climate activists.
