Urban local bodies and panchayats will be incentivized to promote rooftop solar systems in their jurisdictions to popularize the 'PM Surya: Muft Bijli Yojana'. The scheme aims to provide more income, lower power bills, and generate employment. The scheme was PM Modi's first official decision after consecration of Ram idol in Ayodhya.
