At least 31 Maoists have been killed in encounters since the Vishnu Deo Sai-led BJP govt took over in December last year. In just over three months, the Maoist body count has far surpassed the 2023 toll (18). Eleven Maoists have been shot dead in March alone. For the past few years, though, security forces have been countering Maoists during the tactical counter-offensive campaign period.
