Nainital district police arrested five women for their involvement in the Feb 8 violence in Baphoolpura, Haldwani. This is the first instance of women being arrested in connection with the riots. The accused, residents of Banphoolpura, were identified through electronic evidence and informants' information. They were presented before a local court, remanded to jail. Police have arrested 89 individuals.
