SC has termed as "unfortunate" practice of celebratory firing during marriage ceremonies, which often lead to "disastrous consequences". The bench quashed his conviction under IPC Section 302 and held him guilty of an offence under IPC Section 304 Part II and awarded him a sentence already undergone (eight-year jail term).
