The explosion, which took place around 1.15pm, could be heard 5km away and boiler parts fell 1.5km away, shattering windows of factories, shops and residences and injuring some people. The blaze spread to three adjoining factories - Sapthavarna Chemicals, Mehta Paint and KGN Chemicals - and a car showroom, where 12 vehicles were gutted.
