President Droupadi Murmu appointed new governors to nine states, reassigning several BJP and RSS veterans. Former Sikkim governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya took over as Assam governor with additional charge of Manipur. Other notable appointments included Haribhau Bagde for Rajasthan and Santosh Kumar Gangwar for Jharkhand. Outgoing Jharkhand governor C P Radhakrishnan was named Maharashtra governor.
