U'khand to split its aid for deceased soldiers between wife & parents

The Uttarakhand govt is planning to divide the compensation amount offered by the state to the family of fallen soldiers between the wife and parents. Currently, the state govt adheres to the "next of kin" rule of the armed forces, which stipulates that the compensation is given entirely to the spouse if the fallen soldier was married. If unmarried, the compensation is given to his parents or other dependents.
