External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar stated that the government is awaiting the release of 69 Indians recruited into the Russian army, many of whom were misled about their roles. Out of 91 Indians, eight have died and 14 have returned with government assistance. The issue was raised with Russian authorities by PM Modi and Jaishankar.
