Postmortem reports of three Hmar individuals, whom Assam Police claimed were militants killed in a crossfire, revealed signs of blunt force trauma along with bullet marks. This has led to suspicions of a fake encounter. The families, alleging torture and extrajudicial killing, filed for a CBI inquiry. The case is set for a hearing on September 10.
