States’ mineral windfall to easily surpass 1.5 lakh crore, Odisha’s share over 1 lakh crore

Odisha and other mineral-rich states in India were set for significant financial gains after the Supreme Court permitted the retrospective collection of taxes on mineral-bearing land from April 1, 2005. Odisha would receive its pending dues, estimated at over Rs 1 lakh crore, in instalments starting April 2026. States like Andhra Pradesh and Telangana also expected substantial revenue recovery.
