Shambhu, a toll point, gained fame when farmers clashed with police during a border closure. It has a historical Mughal serai on Sher Shah Suri's highway. Battles have been fought in the area, including a surprise night attack in Mardan Pur by Bibi Sahib Kaur against a large Maratha army.
