In cabinet meeting chaired by chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the Uttarakhand government approved the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) draft report. The five-member UCC panel had submitted the draft on Friday. It is set to be presented in a specially-convened assembly session on February 6. Once passed and enacted, Uttarakhand will be the first post-independence state to implement the UCC. Assam and Gujarat governments have expressed interest in adopting the "Uttarakhand UCC model."
