Shankar Das, pro-vice-chancellor at Tata Institute of Social Sciences, will serve as interim vice-chancellor for Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics starting September 22. This follows the refusal by the senior-most professor to assume the role after Ajit Ranade was removed due to not meeting eligibility criteria related to teaching experience.
